Joanne Fillingham

Joanne was ellected to the Board of Trustees in February 2020

I live in Cheshire with my two boys, although born and raised in Oldham. I am an Allied Health Professional, a Speech and Language Therapist who qualified in 1998 and completed a PhD in 2005. Since then I have worked in clinical and leadership roles, across primary, community and secondary care settings at a local, regional and national level in the NHS.  I am passionate about shaping and influencing policy, supporting delivery and innovation, and driving quality improvement to deliver great care for our people and populations. I  am also passionate about the harnessing the use of technology and specifically social media, to learn, share and to transform care.

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2017, and therefore have first-hand experience of the potential devastating effect pre, during and post diagnosis has on an individual. Its why I am passionate about the charity and the support it offers to those diagnosed with IBD, their families, the people that work to support and care for them and the search for a cure. I feel privileged to be part of the charity as a member of the Board of Trustees.
