Closure of the Bladder and Bowel Foundation

Published 29 July 2016

We were very sad to hear that the valuable work of the Bladder and Bowel Foundation will cease operating as of 22 July 2016 due to financial circumstances.

The Bladder and Bowel Foundation - the UK wide charity for people with bladder and bowel control problems - provided information and support services for anyone affected by these conditions (including Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis) as well as their families, carers and healthcare professionals.

Crohn’s & Colitis UK frequently sign-posted callers to our helpline to the Foundation, and our information was also shared through the Foundation. If you have been affected by the planned closure of the Foundation – or you would like to access some relevant information - we have a number of useful information sheets available free of charge, and all of our publications are research based and produced in consultation with patients, carers, medical advisers and other health professionals.

All of our members also receive a ‘Can’t Wait Card’, which is combined with the membership card. It's designed to help you get access to toilets without embarrassment or confusion and is small enough to be discreetly tucked away in a purse or wallet and is available in different languages for travellers.

If you need any support, our confidential support services provide practical information and advice and can be accessed through a range of channels.

Update 2017: Please note, whilst the Foundation had to close, a continuation of the project has been ignited in the form of the Bowel and Bladder Community.
