A fond farewell to David

Published 16 August 2018

It is with a sense of sadness and gratitude that I share with you the news that that our current Chief Executive David Barker will be stepping down from his role at Crohn’s & Colitis UK on 14 September.

After five and a half magnificent years as the leader of our charity, David is leaving us in order to establish his own consultancy business advising and supporting charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK.

During his time as CEO, he has led the organisation through a significant period of transformation, modernisation and growth. Under his leadership the charity has doubled in size and income and we are now reaching and supporting record numbers of people as well as funding a growing portfolio of research and delivering campaigns and partnerships to drive lasting change.

As our Chief Executive David has always put the needs of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis at the heart of our work and he has been a great champion for the organisation and a tremendous advocate for the cause. He is very highly regarded by all our stakeholders and, thanks to his work, the charity is well placed to ensure that it continues to thrive and deliver the greatest possible impact for everyone affected by Crohn’s and Colitis across the UK.

Myself and the Board of Trustees are enormously grateful for all that he has done for the charity and he will leave us with our heartfelt thanks and best wishes for his next endeavour.

We are now recruiting for our next Chief Executive, as soon as we have made an appointment we will let you know.

Sue Cherrie
Chairman, Crohn's & Colitis UK
