High commendation for patient information

26 September 2018

At the recent BMA Patient Information Awards 2018, we were delighted that two pieces of patient information from Crohn's & Colitis UK received commendations.

The booklet Transition: Moving to Adult Care was highly commended, and our Young Persons video series was also recognised with a commendation. The two patient information pieces were launched in 2017, and filled an urgent gap in support for young people with Crohn’s and Colitis.

The British Medical Association Patient (BMA) Information Awards were established in 1997 to encourage excellence in the production and distribution of accessible, well-designed and clinically balanced patient information. Entries came from organisations across the UK from many different disease areas, and all go through a robust judging process.

We are delighted to have received such prestigious commendations from the BMA, which cement the charity’s standing as the authority of reliable information on Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Transitioning from paediatric to adult care can be a challenging time, and our booklet and videos go a long way to helping young people understand and thrive during the process. The commendations from the BMA would not have been possible without the amazing young people who offered their thoughts and experiences to help us shape the resources.
