Patient Involvement in Research Day 2021

The 2021 IBD Patient Involvement in Research Day on 6 November was a great success, with 157 people joining us via Zoom to share their views and take part in live voting.

We heard from six pioneering researchers on a wide range of exciting topics including pain, personalised medicine, childhood clinical trials, and growing ‘mini-guts’ to study Crohn’s and Colitis. It’s so important that people living with IBD are involved in research at every step, as it ensures the outcomes of the research meet our community’s needs.

Thank you for organising such a useful and interesting seminar - and thank you to all the presenters! Good to see different research projects underway.

Don’t forget you can still check out the virtual posters on our website and re-watch the presentations from the day. The ‘Have your Say’ boxes under each one will be open until 4 December, so if you couldn’t attend the event, you can still get involved and send your questions to the researchers.

In our quick poll at the end of the day, everyone said they found the information presented accessible enough, and were able to understand most or all of it. The majority liked the virtual format, with 55% saying they would like future events to be virtual too, while 40% would like to see a face-to-face event, but with an option to watch online. Everyone who joined us has been sent a feedback survey so look out for more detailed information from this in the near future. We are really looking forward to reading your comments and suggestions so we can make the event even better next year!
