Legacy04: Mechanism of early tissue responses in vaccination with mRNA vaccines (MechRNA)

Researchers at University of Oxford are looking for people to take part in this new research study looking at how people respond to vaccines and how this changes as we age.

This new study by researchers at University of Oxford is looking to learn more about how people respond to vaccines and how this changes as we age.

For older adults and people on specific immunosuppressive medications, such as those for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that block a protein called tumour necrosis factor (TNF), vaccines do not appear to work as well. And as we age, our immune system changes, which can also reduce how well vaccines work.

Researchers want to understand why this happens by looking at samples taken directly after a vaccine and comparing them with samples from younger adults who do not take immunosuppressive medications.

The researchers are looking for people to take part who are both healthy volunteers and people living with IBD, divided into three groups:

  • aged 18–45 years
  • aged 65 years or older
  • aged 18–50 years who are receiving anti-TNF therapy

By taking part in this opportunity you will be helping to understand how immune responses to vaccination change with age and in people with IBD.

For more information on who is eligible to take part and what will be required please complete the form below to be taken to the study website or email info@ovg.ox.ac.uk for more information.

By entering your details, you are not committing to take part, but you will be directed to the study webpage for more information. You will have the opportunity to change your mind at any time.
