World IBD Day is on its way
Let’s tell the world there’s No Going Back
World IBD Day 2021 is just around the corner and this year, on Wednesday 19 May, we’re looking forward to the future.
As many people are longing for things to go back to normal, we want something better.
When you live with an invisible condition such as Crohn’s or Colitis that means going back to a world that makes life harder for you – dealing with people who don’t understand your condition, in a society not set up to help you manage it. Nobody should have to accept that kind of ‘normal’.
So, this World IBD Day, let’s not go back to normal. Let’s go forward to something better.
To help you get involved we’ve got a menu of suggestions to create a world where everyone living with Crohn’s and Colitis feels understood and supported to live their best life. We want you to choose how you take part and the best ways for you to make a difference. You can also keep up to date with our plans on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
World IBD Day is also a really good opportunity to open up about your condition, so people in your life know how it affects you and how they can help. A great starting point is the It Takes Guts website, where there are tools, tips and support, including a Talking Toolkit that will help you find the words to start those important conversations.
If you’d like to mark the occasion by meeting other people living with Crohn’s or Colitis, our virtual social events are the perfect opportunity. Anyone from across the UK who is affected by Crohn's or Colitis can attend these events, and share experiences and tips on how to live well with the conditions. We will be holding social events on the morning and evening of World IBD Day.
