Learn about the latest research
Watch presentations from our virtual event
On Saturday 6 November we hosted our annual Patient Involvement in Research Day webinar. Over Zoom, we brought together people with Crohn's and Colitis and researchers, who discussed the latest research into the conditions.
Holding the event virtually allowed people affected by Crohn's and Colitis to take part from across the UK, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Participants were able to share their views, take part in live voting, and send their questions to the researchers.
Six pioneering researchers presented their latest studies on the day. The recordings and slides are now available to view online:
Psychological and biological pain profiling
Using mini-guts to study the causes of Crohn’s and Colitis
Attitudes about COVID-19 and health
Patient data driving the development of new treatments
The childhood mini-MARVEL trial
Personalised medicine for Ulcerative Colitis
Crohn’s & Colitis UK CEO Sarah Sleet, who chaired the event, said: “It was fantastic to hear about so many innovative research projects which give real hope to people living with Crohn’s and Colitis.

“Thank you to everyone who watched, took part in live polls, and asked questions throughout the day – you’ve helped to shape the research of the future!”
We had great feedback from some of the 157 people who attended the event on the day.
“We are so lucky to be able to have webinars like this. It’s great to hear about and get directly involved in research to help make things better for those with Crohn’s and Colitis going forward,” said one attendee.
Another told us: “The whole webinar has been useful, and this virtual format is easy to access from home or work for patients and the researchers.”
We believe it’s vital that people living with Crohn’s and Colitis are involved at every stage of research, to ensure the outcomes of the studies meet our community’s needs.
