I want to fundraise for Crohn’s & Colitis UK - where do I start?

That’s great! Your help is so important to us, as the vital funds you raise means that we can help thousands of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis by improving treatment, support services and life-changing research.

There are lots of different ways that you can fundraise for us, so really it depends on what you’re interested in. Why not try a sponsored run or swim, host a bake sale or organise a fancy dress day at work? There are no rules, so you can be as inventive or creative as you like!

We’ve got lots of fundraising ideas and fundraising resources on our website too which may help you to get the ball rolling.

If you’re still feeling stuck or if you have a great fundraising idea but aren’t sure how to make it happen, please get in touch with our friendly supporter care team at fundraising@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk or call us on 01727 734485 as we’re always happy to help!

What’s the best way to collect sponsorship/ donations for my fundraising activity/ event?

Whether you’d prefer to raise money in person or online is entirely up to you – whichever you feel will be the most convenient and accessible method for you and the people you are hoping to reach.

If you are thinking of setting up a fundraising page online associated with your event, JustGiving is a great platform to do so. Simply choose us as your charity when you register and any money you raise will come straight to us.

If you’d prefer to record sponsorship in person, we have printable forms available here on our website.

If you are thinking of hosting a fundraising event, we have a range of materials that we can send out to you to help with collecting donations, including decorative banners and balloons, collection tins and collection buckets. Just drop us an email at fundraising@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk with your address and event details so we can send some over to you.

I don’t feel confident that I can reach the minimum fundraising target for one of your events – can I still take part?

We want to support you in any way we can so that you are able to reach the minimum fundraising target for your event, so please get in touch with us at fundraising@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk if you are feeling overwhelmed or worried about meeting a fundraising target.

We have lots of fundraising materials which we can send out to help you out along the way, and a load of fundraising ideas and advice on our website here to get you started. Our team are here to help you every step of the way!

If you really don’t think you’ll be able to meet the minimum sponsorship target for one of our Charity Places in the event, you may still be able to apply for an ‘Own Place’ through the event organisers’ website.

If that is no longer possible, there are a number of events that do not require a minimum sponsorship such as our WALK IT events, or those with a lower target, so there’s still lots of ways to get involved!

What if I don’t have all of my sponsorship money collected before the event day?

That’s absolutely fine, and please don’t worry! We expect to receive most of your sponsorship money before the event, but there’s no need to feel disheartened if you haven’t quite managed to send it to us yet or meet your total fundraising target.

In general, we would like you to have sent us all of your sponsorship by 6 weeks after the event has taken place. But if you aren’t quite there yet, we can still take donations after that point and add them to your total fundraising amount.

If Crohn’s & Colitis UK isn’t a registered charity for an event I want to take part in, can I still use sponsorship to fundraise for your charity?

It really depends upon the event you are registered with, but in most cases this isn’t a problem at all!

We would love to hear from you regardless and want to support you in any way we can so please get in touch with our friendly team at fundraising@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk and let us know about your event.

Can you help me publicise my fundraising page on your social media channels?

A great way to get your voice heard and connect with others is to share your story to the ‘visitor posts’ section on our Facebook page. You can find this under ‘posts’ tab on our page. If you are on twitter, you can also tweet our dedicated fundraising twitter @crohnscolitisFR and we may be able to retweet you from there.

Unfortunately we can't promote individual's fundraising on our main social media accounts as it would be unfair to share some and not others.

If you'd like to share your story of life with Crohn's or Colitis on our Instagram, you can email your story with a picture or two to our digital team on digital@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk. We do read all of these and when we’re looking to post stories on our Instagram we look through these for content, but we can’t guarantee that your story will be shared.

Can I get a Crohn’s & Colitis UK t-shirt/ vest/ cycling jersey to wear for my event?

We’d love to send you out a top to wear for your event. We also have some iron-on letters for you to personalise your top with, so let us know what name or nickname you’d prefer!

Please email us at fundraising@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk with your address and event details and we will happily send a top out to you.

Where can I get sponsorship forms from?

Printable sponsorship forms can be found here on our website.

Alternatively, if you would like us to send some over to you, please email us at fundraising@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk with your address and one of our team will send them out to you.

How can I send in the money raised from my collection tin?

To send in money from your collection tin please empty the tin and make a bank transfer to our bank account or simply send us over a cheque with the amount.

Unfortunately we are unable to come and pick up collection tins.
