Disability entries

Do you live a disability or long term condition? London Marathon echoes our beliefs that sport and activity should be accessible for all, which is why their dedicated team supports people with a huge range of disabilities to take part in the TCS London Marathon with their Disability entries and Assisted Wheelchair entries.

General Disability Entries
Please note these entries are exclusively for people with a permanent disability or a long-term health condition.

Assisted Wheelchair Entries
Assisted wheelchair entries are ONLY open to wheelchair participants who are unable to propel or push themselves around the course without assistance. Up to four Support Runners can be registered per participant, with a maximum of two pushing at any one time.

How it works (applies to both entry types):

  • Entries will be allocated via a random ballot run by London Marathon event organisers.
  • The application form closes at 23:59 on Thursday 31 July 2025
  • Ballot results will be announced by Friday 8 August 2025
  • Proof of disability is required during the application process (for example, medical certificate, Disability Living Allowance)
  • Participants must complete the form themselves. If they need help, they should contact your charity directly
  • Charities are encouraged to share the registration form with supporters in their network who have a disability and are eligible to apply
  • Fundraising is optional: charities cannot require participants using these entry types to fundraise for them, but participants are welcome to do so if they choose

Disability Entries FAQ's

  • I have IBD, am I eligible to apply for one of these places?

Yes. The disability places are for those who have a permanent disability or long-term health condition, including hidden/invisible conditions, such as Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, but proof of disability is required.
Examples of proof of disability are on the below FAQ. However, it is recognised that it can be difficult obtaining or sharing proof of disability for a number of reasons, so please do reach out to accessibility@londonmarathonevents.co.uk if you need to discuss this further.

  • What is accepted as proof of disability?

London Marathon accept a range of documents as proof of disability, including:
    • A medical certificate
    • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
    • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
    • A doctor’s letter
    • A disability ID card
    • A Blue Badge

If a participant is unable to provide any of the above, they should contact us by emailing
    accessibility@londonmarathonevents.co.uk to discuss alternative options

  • Are the forms and donation platforms accessible for screen reader users?

Yes, the application form includes a feature called Immersive Reader, which helps make the form more accessible to screen reader users and those with additional reading or visual needs. This tool allows users to have text read aloud, adjust text spacing and size, and translate content into different languages.
For the best experience, we recommend using an up-to-date browser such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.

  • Do London Marathon provide Visually Impaired/Blind Runner bib stickers?

London Marathon don’t currently offer specific bib stickers for blind or visually impaired participants, but they're actively looking to introduce this in the future. They do have ‘Guide Runner’ and ‘Support Runner’ bibs available for collection at the TCS London Marathon Running Show.
In the meantime, London Marathon can provide ‘Give Me Space’ sticker's and can be used to help support blind and visually impaired participants on the course.

  • Do assisted wheelchair users have to be fully dependent on a Support Runner?

If a participant needs to be propelled at any point during the course, even partially, they must
apply for an Assisted Wheelchair entry. If they can self-propel for the entire marathon, they are
welcome to take part using a general ballot place or charity place if successful and cannot have Support Runner(s) propel them.
They can, however, request a Support Runner to assist in other ways, such as
administering medication, refuelling, or accessing toilets. Please refer to the guidance for more information on the types of wheelchairs permitted on the course.

  • Do Support Runners receive a medal?

Yes, Support Runners will also receive a medal as long as they finish alongside the participant they are supporting. For example, if the participant has to withdraw from the event due to injury, the Support Runner will have to withdraw too or their result will be disqualified.

FAQ's

  • When will I hear about my charity place applications?

We cannot give an exact date of when you will hear regarding your application. Charity place applications are reviewed on a rolling basis by the events fundraising team.
If successful, you will be contacted by the team via phone; if you are placed on our waiting list or are unsuccessful, you will be contacted by email. We're aiming to contact everyone who applied by the end of August 2025.

  • What is the charity place registration fee?

The registration fee for our TCS London Marathon charity places is £150.00. If you are successful in securing a charity place you will have the option of paying this in one bulk payment or pay this in 3 monthly instalments of £50.00.

  • What happens if I can't reach my fundraising pledge target?

When signing up for your chosen event with Crohn’s & Colitis UK, you agreed to the terms and conditions of raising the minimum fundraising target.

There is no obligation, whatsoever, to do so, but if you would prefer to personally contribute towards your sponsorship amount, we’re more than happy to accept personal donations.

Struggling to hit your target? Try a simple fundraiser like a cake sale, raffle, or quiz night. These can really boost your total.

Your efforts matter. 1 in 123 people in the UK live with Crohn’s or Colitis, and every pound you raise helps fund vital research, support services, better care and faster diagnosis.
