Payroll Giving

A simple way to make a lasting difference

Every day, people living with Crohn's or Colitis face challenges that can affect every part of their lives – from education and work to relationships, wellbeing and future plans. Around 1 in 123 people in the UK are living with Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, and there is still no cure. Crohn's & Colitis UK is working to change that by providing trusted information and support, funding pioneering research and campaigning for better healthcare and understanding.

Payroll Giving is an easy and tax-efficient way to help make that change happen.

The average donation from our Payroll Givers is £10 per month. Over 12 months, that's £120. This can fund a life-changing enquiry to the Crohn's & Colitis UK's Helpline, provide resources to one of our supporters meeting their local politician to advocate for early diagnosis AND fund an hour of a Research Associate's time to work on one of our many funded research studies. That's just from 1 person's donation, imagine what we could do if everyone affected by Crohn's or Colitis chose to support us in this way!

What is Payroll Giving?

Payroll Giving allows UK employees to donate directly to charity through their salary. Your donation is taken from your pay before tax is deducted, meaning the full donation comes to Crohn's & Colitis UK and costs you less than giving from your take-home pay.

For example:

  • A £10 donation could cost a basic-rate taxpayer just £8.
  • A £10 donation could cost a higher-rate taxpayer just £6.

Once you've signed up, your donation is automatically deducted each payday, making it one of the simplest ways to provide regular support.

Why Payroll Giving matters

Regular monthly donations give us the confidence to plan ahead and invest in long-term change. They help us:

For Employees

Make your donation go further

Payroll Giving is one of the most tax-effective ways to support Crohn's & Colitis UK. Because donations are taken before tax, your gift costs less to make, while the charity receives the full donation amount.

It's a straightforward way to support people living with Crohn's or Colitis every month without having to remember direct debits, card payments or annual renewals.

For Employers

Easy to set up. Meaningful for your people.

Introducing Payroll Giving is simpler than many organisations realise. A Payroll Giving Agency works with you to set up the scheme and provide the necessary administration, allowing donations to be processed through your existing payroll system.

Once in place, employees can choose to support the charities they care about directly from their salary.

Benefits for your organisation

Payroll Giving can help your organisation:

  • Strengthen your commitment to social responsibility.
  • Support employee wellbeing and engagement.
  • Enhance your employee benefits offering.
  • Demonstrate your values in a practical way.
  • Build a culture of giving and community impact.
  • Support causes that matter to your workforce with minimal administration.

Support Crohn's & Colitis UK through your workplace

By offering Payroll Giving, your organisation can help fund vital support services, groundbreaking research and campaigning work that improves the lives of the 500,000+ people in the UK living with Crohn's and Colitis.

It's a simple change that can create a lasting impact.

Together, we can change what it means to live with Crohn's or Colitis

Every Payroll Giving donation helps us move closer to a world where people living with Crohn's or Colitis have the support they need to live well today, and where one day nobody has to live with these conditions at all.
