Join the steering group for the 2026 UK IBD Priority Setting Partnership

Help Shape the Future of IBD Research in the UK

We are supporting a James Lind Alliance (JLA) Priority Setting Partnership (PSP), which brings patients, carers, and clinicians together to identify the Top 10 research priorities for IBD. These priorities will help guide future research funding and national strategy.

The project is also supported by the British Society of Gastroenterology

Researchers are looking for both people with lived experience of Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis and Healthcare Professionals involved in IBD care to help shape the future of IBD research.

In 2026, the UK Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) will identify the Top 10 research priorities for IBD. These priorities will help guide future research funding and national strategy.

The project is led by Professor Nick Powell (Imperial College London) and supported by the British Society of Gastroenterology and Crohn’s & Colitis UK.

Why get involved?

Research should focus on what matters most to people affected by IBD. Your lived experience can help ensure that future research addresses the real challenges faced by patients and families.

What’s involved?

Steering group members will:

  • Attend virtual meetings
  • Help review and prioritise research questions
  • Ensure patient and carer voices are central to decision-making

No previous research experience is needed — just a willingness to share your perspective.
We welcome applications from people across the UK, from all backgrounds and experiences of IBD.

Researchers would like to hear from the following groups:

  • People living with Crohn's or Colitis
  • People who care for someone with Crohn's or Colitis
  • Healthcare Professionals (e.g. gastroenterologists, IBD nurses, surgeons, dietitians, or other clinician) involved with IBD care.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please click the button below and you will be redirected to the study website where you can register your interest. The researchers will contact you directly with more information.

You are not committing to take part and can change your mind at any time.
