Understanding inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the year after childbirth

Researchers at University of Bristol are looking for people living with Crohn's or Colitis who have had a baby in the last 5 years to take part in a focus group to shape their new research project.

Many women with Crohn's and Colitis experience a worsening of their symptoms in the months after having a baby. This can be very difficult at a time whilst recovering from childbirth, caring for a newborn and adjusting to major physical, emotional and social changes. Researchers want to understand what happens in the year after childbirth. They will look at how common flare ups are, when they are most likely to happen, and who may be most at risk.

This is an opportunity to help the researchers shape this project.

To take part you must be:

  • over 18
  • diagnosed with Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis
  • have given birth in the last 5 years

If you choose to take part you will be asked to join an online informal discussion to share your views and experiences of IBD in the postpartum year (the 12 months after childbirth). Sharing your experiences will help researchers shape the project to make sure it is relevant and accessible.

The discussion will be online in group of approximately 8 people, or one-to-one if preferred. The calls will last no longer than 60 minutes.

By entering your details, you are not committing to take part, but your contact details will be forwarded to the researcher who will get in touch with you directly with more information. You will have the opportunity to change your mind at any time.

This research study is NOT organised by Crohn's & Colitis UK and, therefore, we cannot take responsibility for your involvement in the research.
