Experiences of social support in managing quality of life among adults with IBD: A qualitative study

Researchers at the University of Nottingham are looking for adults diagnosed with IBD to understand the role of social support in improving people's quality of life.

This study aims to understand the experiences of adults living in the UK with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Specifically, the researchers will like to look at the role of social support in helping people to improve their quality of life.

IBD can cause a range of physical symptoms such as cramping pains, diarrhoea, vomiting, fatigue, and weight loss. These impact on people’s quality of life cannot always be managed by medication or surgery. It is for this reason that people turn to other sources of support, such as family and friends, co-workers, and support groups.

Talking to people with IBD in this research study about their experience of social support could help to improve the support that people living with IBD receive through the NHS and other organisations.
