Lead Volunteer Updates

From time to time the Volunteering Team will need to update Lead Volunteers on developments in policy, guidance and/or send out requests for information. This page is designed to post this information and act as a history record to refer to.

If you ever have any comments or questions about the below updates please contact the Volunteering Team or email networks@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk

You can also call us on 01727 734475 between the hours of 9am to 5pm through Monday to Friday.

JANUARY 2020 UPDATE

We have developed a new Eventbrite guidance document to clarify our processes and updated our JustGiving guidance to cover Community Fundraising for Local Networks more generally. These documents provide important updates and information on key processes which should now be followed to ensure a consistent approach. When you have read them through, please click the link at the bottom of the email sent on 15th January to confirm your understanding.

NOVEMBER 2019 UPDATE

We have been working alongside our Health Service Development team to produce a new Medical Advisor (MA) Role Pack for you, which can be found here. This is designed to assist you with recruiting and retaining links with your local hospitals. You have told us how important these connections are and we know it can be difficult to make the most of these relationships, so hopefully this will help.

The pack clearly lays out what can be expected from a potential MA and also how they can benefit from their involvement with you. Your VDO will approach medical professionals on your behalf, or you can send this pack directly to those that you think may be interested.

When you have read this through, please click the link at the bottom of the email sent on 14th November to confirm your understanding.

SEPTEMBER 2019 UPDATE

We have been working with the Finance and Corporate Services Team to produce a new financial information document, which can be found here.  This provides guidance on financial matters and processes relating to Networks and is to help ensure a consistent approach. Please read it carefully, and then click the link provided at the bottom of the email sent on 10th September to confirm your understanding.

If you have any questions, please email or call us.

MARCH 2019 UPDATE

Based off of feedback from Local Networks we are pleased to have created a new volunteer role for 2019 to assist you with larger events that might require more volunteers to support them.

The role is called Local Network Event (LNE) Volunteers which will allow for an  increase in volunteer numbers at your disposal to put on bigger and better events without putting a strain on the management of your regular OT.

These volunteers will have limited contact with you outside of events and will not attend OT meetings but may come along to one planning meeting ahead of the big event they are volunteering at.

We understand that it is likely that you already have people in place who support you on an ad hoc basis who are not registered volunteers. If you do please pass on  their details or ask them to contact us so we can register them as LNE volunteers. This will ensure we know the true number of volunteers who support our Local Networks and hold records on them without a laborious recruitment process or a requirement to attend OT meetings.

The full detail on the role, their involvement and how to manage them, can be found here

As aways, do get in touch with any questions around this exciting addition to our volunteering offer and tell your VDO about any existing volunteers who could fit in to this role.

After reading the November Update and links please return to the Lead Volunteer email you will have received on 7th March and click on the link provided at the bottom of the email to confirm your understanding of the email and the new guidance.

If you have any questions, please email or call us.
