Development and validation of a new measure of identity in young adults with long term pain

Researchers at University of Bath are looking for people aged 16-24 to complete an online questionnaire looking at identify in young adults who live with long term pain.

Researchers at University of Bath are looking for people aged 16-24 to complete an online questionnaire looking at identify in young adults who live with long term pain.

Living with long-term pain can change how young adults see themselves, yet there is no reliable way to measure those identity changes. Researchers at University of Bath have created a new questionnaire which they want to test to make sure it really works.

The questionnaire will help researchers understand how living with long-term pain (including people affected by Crohn's and Colitis) affects identity and give healthcare teams a tool to spot who might need extra support.

If you decide to take part you will be asked to complete some questionnaires online. This will be the researcher's draft questionnaire and some other questionnaires that include topics such as mental health, and long-term pain. This will take between 20-30 minutes to complete.

To take part you must be:

  • Aged 16 - 24
  • Living with long-term pain for 3 months or more (this can be continuously or intermittently)

If you are interested in taking part, or would like more information about the study, please contact the research team via email

You will have the opportunity to change your mind at any time.

This research study is NOT organised by Crohn's & Colitis UK and, therefore, we cannot take responsibility for your involvement in the research.
