Medicine Tool
This tool helps you to explore different medicine options that are suited to your personal needs and preferences.
-
How to use the medicine tool
- To begin, complete the required filters on the left-hand side of the tool — you can select your diagnosis, pregnancy preferences and medicine purpose. The medicines shown will be relevant to your needs. These medicines are shown for educational purposes only — always discuss new medicines with your IBD team.
- Select your preferences using the optional filters (in the box beneath the required filters) to narrow down your search. You will be able to select preferences including how the medicine is taken, how often the medicine is taken and the medicine type.
- The medicines that appear in the top section called "Filtered medicine options" are more aligned with your needs and preferences, based on the filters you have selected. In the bottom section, you will also be able to see "Excluded medicine options" that do not meet your selected preferences. Each card contains a snapshot of information about the medicine.
- Click on each medicine to learn more. You can find out more detail about each medicine by clicking on ‘view full information’.
- Compare different medicines. You can compare up to three different medicines by selecting the ‘compare’ tick box. Here you will be able to see how different medicines compare across a range of factors, such as:
- How medicines are taken
- How often they are taken
- How well they work (effectiveness)
- Ongoing checks
- On the comparison tab, you can generate a report to save, e-mail or print. You can then give this report to your IBD team. This report will list all of your selected preferences and your medicine comparison results. There is space on the report for you to note down anything you would like to discuss with your IBD team. You might want to include any relevant medical history, such as cancer or multiple sclerosis.
