About one in four people with Crohn's or Colitis are diagnosed when they are over 60. This is often referred to as 'late-onset IBD', and we know it can come with its own challenges.

Watch this free webinar to learn more about late-onset IBD from Bridgette — one of our Crohn's & Colitis UK Nurse Specialists — and Debra and Sue, who both have first-hand experience.

Bridgette Fraser is an IBD Specialist Nurse Practitioner working as the Lead Nurse at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She won 'Nurse of the Year' in October 2019 for her service development projects since joining the Trust. She hosted the first IBD Open Day in June 2019, and developed an IBD flare card, leaflet and key fob for patients. She has since done many IBD awareness activities.

She enjoys family time playing board games and going on beach holidays. She also loves to read, crochet and do jigsaw puzzles when she gets some free time!

Debra was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the age of 59. After several years of ups and downs, it took an acute flare and hospital stay in 2022 before she was screened for combined therapy of biologics and immunosuppressants. This current treatment has put Debra on the path to remission – things are now looking positive and she is able to enjoy line dancing and go on holiday again.

Sue was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the age of 67. At this event she shares her experience of her various treatments and their side effects, and coming to terms with surgery. Amongst other things, she enjoys volunteering with the National Trust and reading.

Catherine Winsor has worked in the healthcare charity sector for over 20 years, including senior roles at Prostate Cancer UK and Bowel Cancer UK, leading teams focused on improving healthcare pathways and the provision of patient support services. Catherine is passionate about health inequality and improving access to support for everyone.
