I've left a gift in my will to make sure others get the support that I did

Published: 23 May 2021

People leave gifts to Crohn's & Colitis UK in their wills for lots of reasons, and every contribution makes a huge difference to people affected by Crohn's and Colitis.

For Sarah, it's about providing a vital community to everyone who goes through what she has.

“”

As a young person with Crohn’s my experience has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows.

Illness, weight loss, surgery. Feeling isolated and misunderstood. Not knowing how to articulate any of it. That was all part of my journey. What makes it all worthwhile is the other side of it.

“”

The friendships, connections, and lessons you learn on the way.

You can grow as a person. You can stop looking for the light at the end of the tunnel because you’ve become the light. That moment when you understand that life does go on after a diagnosis, and that you aren’t alone. You can talk about it.

Crohn’s & Colitis UK provides that sense of belonging, that vital connection to people who experience what you’re experiencing. Not everyone will understand what’s it’s like to live with Crohn’s or Colitis, and that’s okay too.

What matters most is that we have that support somewhere, and that we give that support to others in small ways. In any way we can.

“”

That’s why I’ve included Crohn’s & Colitis UK in my will.

Because somebody, somewhere, knows exactly how you feel, and if everybody does a little, nobody has to do a lot.
