Dr Jackie Craissati MBE joins Crohn's & Colitis UK's Board of Trustees
We’re pleased to welcome Dr Jackie Craissati MBE as our newly elected chair, heading up our Board of Trustees.
Jackie brings a wealth of experience, having been involved in public sector and charity work throughout her professional life. Jackie is currently Chair of Kent and Medway NHS trust which provides mental health care to 1.7 million people, having been on the Board since 2016. She has previously been a trustee on the Board of Samaritans and has a background in clinical and forensic psychology.
Jackie has a personal connection to Crohn’s and Colitis having supported her son since his diagnosis 10 years ago. As someone who has cared for a loved one with Ulcerative Colitis, Jackie has real understanding of what makes a difference to people living with the conditions.
She has seen first-hand how things like IBD nurse specialists and a proper pathway of support between the hospital and community are hugely impactful. Her grounded, real-world approach puts her in an ideal position to support our strategy and help us to make real difference to the lives of people living with Crohn’s or Colitis.
It’s a hugely exciting time to join Crohn’s & Colitis UK. I was drawn to their ambition and drive, which is so important right now when public health and health inequalities are at the forefront of the public’s mind. Crohn’s & Colitis UK are working hard to maximise their impact and widen their scope to make sure they work for everyone with Crohn’s and Colitis, and I’m thrilled to be part of the team.
Outside of work, Jackie loves music and travel. She took up playing the Saxophone in adulthood and now regularly plays in a saxophone quartet and with a big band.
Jackie also loves to bake, walk, read, and listen to the radio as it helps her switch off from the working day.
Jackie has joined the charity at an exciting time as we get to work on our new strategy for the next 3 years. We’re making it our mission to fully understand your experience so we can fight for everyone affected by Crohn's and Colitis.
We’re incredibly pleased to welcome Jackie as Chair. Our new strategy sets out a bold vision for how we want to support people living with Crohn’s and Colitis, by developing the depth and breadth of our expertise and working hard to reach everyone affected by the conditions. Jackie’s expertise and passion will make her an excellent advocate for the change we need.
