British Journal of Nursing 2022 Awards – GI/IBD Award

We know how important every single IBD Nurse is to people living with Crohn’s or Colitis.

This award recognises dedication and hard work in very challenging times.

The nominations for this year’s award nominees were all a fantastic quality. The nominees shortlisted for 2022 were:

• Gastroenterology Day Case Team, GI Day Case Service, Nursing Team, The Royal Wolverhampton Trust.
  This team of nurse practitioners provide a 7-day service to assess and manage patients admitted to hospital with a range of urgent GI (Gastrointestinal) symptoms, including IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) flares. They assess, diagnose, and treat patients quickly and efficiently as soon as they arrive in hospital avoiding admission.
  
  
• IBD Nursing Service, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Clinical Nurse Specialist/Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist, Royal Alexandra, Vale of Leven and Inverclyde Royal Hospitals.
  A dynamic and innovative team of IBD nurse specialists, who provide nurse led care at all stages of the patient’s care. This team have shown, and published, a wide range of nursing services that have transformed the patient experience.
  
  
• Sarah York, IBD Nurse Consultant, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation
  An inspirational IBD Nurse Consultant and Crohn’s & Colitis UK Nurse Specialist, Sarah’s leadership and clinical skills are impacting on all areas of IBD care within their Trust.
  
  
• PADS, DSUK, Independent Practitioner, National Post
  This team developed an online tool for younger people living with learning disabilities to guide and support them with constipation management.

The winners for the 2022 GI/IBD Award were: IBD Nursing Service, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Clinical Nurse Specialist / Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist, Royal Alexandra, Vale of Leven and Inverclyde Royal Hospitals.

The judges were impressed with the range of the impact of their innovation and service delivery, including self-management, flare cards and pathways, and using telemedicine during such a challenging time.
