Do you know an inspirational young fundraiser?

Published: 19 February 2020

We are excited to open nominations for our fifth Alex Demain Young Fundraiser of the Year Award.

Starting in 2016, the award is in memory of our dear colleague and friend, Alex Demain, who sadly passed away in 2015.

Passionate about his work, Alex was a valued member of our fundraising team who always loved to hear stories from our supporters about how they overcame challenges to raise money and awareness for the charity.

This award was created to honour the achievements of our extraordinary supporters who meet our values of Ambitious, Compassionate, and Stronger Together, whilst also remembering a great friend.

Nominations are now open

We are now accepting nominations for 2020's Alex Demain Young Fundraiser of the Year Award.

The award is open to any Crohn's & Colitis UK fundraiser in the UK under the age of 30, who has raised over £250 in the past year.

If you have been motivated or inspired by the innovative ways a young person has fundraised for Crohn's & Colitis UK, we would love to receive your nomination.

All nominations will also be considered for our third category, the Alex Demain Lifetime Awareness Award. This is to celebrate supporters who have worked tirelessly to raise awareness for Crohn's and Colitis.

Who can make a nomination?

Anyone! If you are not a current employee of Crohn's & Colitis UK, or part of the voting process, you are free to submit a nomination. You are most welcome to nominate yourself.

What do I include in the nomination?

We have a simple online form for you to complete, where you will be asked to provide:

  • The details of who you are nominating (if nominee is under 18, you will need the contact details of a parent or guardian with their permission).
  •  Why they decided to raise money for Crohn's & Colitis UK.
  •  A description of the fundraising undertaken in the past year by the nominee, including how much was raised.
  • Any additional photos or comments to support your nomination, e.g. reason for your nomination, press interest/awareness raising, or any especially imaginative or brave achievements!

If you have any queries, please contact our friendly Supporter Care team on 01727 734485 or fundraising@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk.

Words can't describe how it feels to have won the Alex Demain Awareness Award, I am overwhelmed and extremely grateful. I feel privileged that his family hand-picked the winners and recognised the work I do, it made me want to cry with happiness.

Judging

Nominations will be voted on by the charity & Alex Demain's family. Our runners up and winners will be contacted in mid/end-of-May and there will also be opportunities to get involved in other events held in aid of Crohn's & Colitis UK, throughout the year.
