Members of the AMRC invested over £1.28bn in research in UK last year

Published: 25 September 2015

New data from the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) indicates that charities have a major impact on the funding of medical and psychosocial research in the UK.

Crohn's & Colitis UK, a member of the AMRC, welcomes this report as it highlights how public donations are essential for the advancement of knowledge, provision of better treatments, and improvements in quality of life for patients.

Last year we awarded over £500,000 to medical research and living with IBD projects across the UK.

The research funded by our organisation has already made an impact on people's lives. Through the identification of genes linked to IBD, investigations of the immunological causes of IBD, and the success that psychosocial interventions can have on improving the lives of people with IBD. IBD patients can be assured that Crohn's & Colitis UK will continue to support high quality research in the future.
