Crohn's & Colitis UK's Digital Manager has been nominated for BAME Charity Digital Leader 2020.
Mitesh Gandhi shortlisted for BAME Charity Digital Leader award
This inaugural award recognises the huge impact that Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) digital leaders are making within the charity sector.
Initially joining the charity on a short-term contract to manage the launch of our previous website in 2013, Mitesh Gandhi has stayed for seven years and transformed the organisation's digital communications and marketing.
If you have visited the charity's main website or various microsites, followed its ever-growing online channels or downloaded the immersive 'In My Shoes' app, then you have experienced just some of Mitesh's innovative work.
Voting has now closed - Winner to be announced in February 2020
Mitesh has led the Digital Team as a brilliant manager and digital enthusiast. He has established the leading online community for Crohn's and Colitis worldwide, transforming our social media, leading digital transformation, diversifying our digital portfolio to include apps, video and microsites and increasing year-on-year our website traffic and engagement.
Mitesh is a great team leader and people manager, with a brilliant sense of humour and a lot of energy. Mitesh's contribution to people with Crohn's and Colitis and to the organisation has been invaluable, making him a very worthy top charity digital BAME leader.
Mitesh keeps those living with Crohn's and Colitis at the heart of our digital strategy and maturity; he has ensured the charity's digital channels and content are accessible for all users.
Under Mitesh's leadership, Crohn's & Colitis UK's social media audiences have grown from 30,000 to 335,000 followers. This includes developing one of the most engaged UK charity pages on Facebook, and starting up our Instagram and Facebook Forum from scratch.
I am absolutely delighted just to be shortlised for this award and be amongst some very talented digital champions within the charity sector.
I dedicate this nomination to all of our amazing supporters, some of which are my friends, family and colleagues. The Crohn's and Colitis community are so engaged online and very passionate about raising awareness of these debilitating diseases. They have inspired me to keep improving our digital offering and also helped motivate me to stay at the charity for this long.
If you've benefited from Crohn's & Colitis UK's digital services or engaged with its online community, then Mitesh's work is likely to have been behind it.
