We're bouncing back from a year that saw many research studies put on hold while researchers were re-deployed to support the NHS or to work on Covid-19 research. We know how much research means to you, our supporters, and this year we can bring back the momentum.
New Crohn's and Colitis research in 2021
For more than 30 years we've been committed to increasing knowledge of Crohn's and Colitis, leading to better treatments and improved services. And one day, hopefully a cure. Our research acts as a stepping stone for larger projects, and leads to vital discoveries.
We've found ways to make research work for people with Crohn's and Colitis in spite of everything, like our hugely successful virtual Patient Involvement in Research day, ongoing partnership with big data project Gut Reaction and Facebook Live events. We've also been continuing to share ways for you to get involved, in both coronavirus research and ongoing projects.
And now, with the help and generosity of our phenomenal supporters, we're excited to announce that we're funding new research in 2021. At least £100,000 of research. We also wouldn't be at this point without our incredible researchers, so a big thank you to them too.
Grant applications are now invited for research into any aspect of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) that will, or has real potential to, improve the lives of people affected by Crohn's and Colitis in the UK, and brings us closer to finding a cure for these conditions.
As always, we're making sure that every penny raised for research is well-spent and this year, we're particularly interested in funding research that focuses on giving those living with Crohn's or Colitis the right treatment at the right time.
Our research has the power to improve lives for people with Crohn's or Colitis. Studies we've funded have led to new tests, interventions and changes to how hospitals deliver care for people living with the conditions. We're ready to restart our funding and push forward our aim to drive world-class research into Crohn's and Colitis.
Looking forward to announcing who we award research funding to later this year!
