A draft quality standard for IBD has been published by NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) for consultation.
NICE draft quality standard for IBD
Crohn’s & Colitis UK will be responding to this as a registered stakeholder and would like to hear from anyone affected by IBD who has a view they would like to feed into this.
NICE quality standards are made up of up to 8 statements which should define good quality care and ensure improvements in care.
Overall, we think the draft covers the right elements, but that it needs strengthening and extending to make it more meaningful, in particular around information and support, rapid access to specialist advice and ongoing monitoring. We would therefore be especially keen to receive any feedback or experiences that have been good or bad in these areas.
- Read the NICE draft quality standard
- Read our previous submissions as Crohn’s & Colitis UK and as part of the IBD Standards Group
We will be very grateful for any feedback received by Wednesday 28th May please so that we have time incorporate this into our final response. If you would like to discuss this, or have any specific queries, please contact philip.reynolds@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk or jackie.glatter@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk
