We are thrilled to announce that Ali Jawad, British Paralympic Powerlifter, will be officially opening WALK IT Birmingham on Saturday 6 July.
Paralympian Ali Jawad to open WALK IT Birmingham
Ali Jawad was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2009. He has since become a Rio Paralympic silver medalist and has been added to GB's squad for the World Para Powerlifting World Cup.
He will be competing in the squad for the World Cup in Hungary in July which will contribute towards Tokyo 2020 qualification rankings.
Having had the privilege of opening the WALK IT event last year, I am excited to return and help support such an incredible event in raising awareness of Crohn's and Colitis. Looking forward to seeing so many inspirational IBD warriors.
By taking part in WALK IT, supporters will be helping to raise vital funds to find a cure and be joining a community of thousands of people across the country walking across some of the UK’s major cities.
Walkers who sign up to WALK IT Birmingham will get to explore the city! The charity is here to support all of those taking part, whether they are in the middle of a flare, in remission or showing support for a loved one.
It takes guts to live with Crohn's and Colitis and that’s why the charity is bringing people together to march through the streets of Birmingham, Bristol, Swansea, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Plymouth this summer.
