It's been over a month since our Virtual Patient and Public Involvement in Research Day and we wanted to share with you what a huge impact you've had! Since October, more than 4,000 of you have checked out our interactive online content of recorded talks, 'virtual posters', and feedback polls.
Thank you for making a huge impact on Crohn's and Colitis research!
Impressively, you have contributed to more than 500 polls over the past month, in addition to the 638 responses given live on the day (please note that polls are now closed). Which means researchers have over 1000 people inputting to their studies!
This input on ongoing and future research studies is crucial to make sure that they work for people living with Crohn's and Colitis. By sharing your views and experiences you can have a very real effect on new treatments and support tools being developed for people affected by the conditions.
The significance of this is fully recognised and sincerely appreciated by the participating researchers, who have had this to say about the event…
A very interactive event with lots of great feedback and discussion
It was a great experience to give a presentation at the event. The opinions from the audiences are very helpful. Thank you so much!
This is excellent to receive the feedback from the audience and this will help us to refine our studies further.
Thank you, all feedback is really appreciated. I also just wanted to say that I really enjoyed attending the event, I think it's a great way to involve patients in research!
Thanks for collecting the information and sharing. These are lovely responses and important for us too. I look forward to the meeting next year!
After each research presentation during our live Zoom call, the floor was opened to questions from participants. You really rose to the occasion, asking 178 questions during the six talks!
Researchers were really impressed by the insightful and original nature of the questions and tried to answer as many as they could in their time slot. They have kindly agreed to address the remaining questions after the event, which you can now find alongside the recorded presentations on our website.
We received some truly inspirational feedback from people who took part in the event, who shared what motivates them to take part in research…

We wanted to say a big THANK YOU! to everyone who took part: researchers, participants with Crohn's or Colitis, and friends, family members, and allies who all came along to learn about and shape the future of research.
Although the polls are now closed, you can still find all the content on our website:
Re-watch recordings of the live talks
We were really proud to bring together researchers and people living with Crohn's and Colitis virtually this year as meeting in person sadly was not possible. We know, however, how important the person-to-person contact is to you too.
Watch this space to find out whether the next event will be virtual or face-to-face! We hope to be able bring you more information by summer next year.
In the meantime, we work year-round to try to connect people with Crohn's and Colitis with the latest research studies that are looking for input.
If you have any questions about our research involvement event or anything else research-related, please get in touch with the Research Team by email.
