Volunteers needed on Facebook

Published: 17 June 2016

Crohn's & Colitis UK is looking for volunteer moderators to support us with our Facebook Group.

Known as the Crohn's & Colitis UK Forum, our closed Facebook Group has 16,000 members and offers a private place for people affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) to talk to others who understand the illness. The group is very fast moving and we are looking for volunteer moderators to support the day-to-day running of the group.

The role will involve:

  • Monitoring to check that posts follow the group rules (the rules can be found in the group description)
  • Deleting posts that do not adhere to the rules (as/when required)
  • Providing a calm, neutral voice to discussions (as/when required)
  • Approve/deny member requests
  • Signposting to Crohn’s and Colitis UK services and other appropriate services (as/when required)

The group is always active and it is at your discretion how often you feel able to moderate the group. A daily presence is needed and this may include during weekends and evenings, and a Moderator schedule may be introduced in order to monitor the group as often as possible.

Find out more about the role and how to apply by downloading a volunteer moderator application form (doc).

The closing date for receipt of completed application forms is Monday 4 July. If you have any questions about the role or the application process please email volunteering@crohnsandcolitis.org.uk or call 01727 734472.
