We're looking for enthusiastic event volunteers to join us at our CHEER POINT on Sunday 13th September 2026. Cheering on our amazing runners with words of encouragement gives them a much-needed boost along the route!
By volunteering with us you’ll be vital in motivating our amazing runners!
Great North Run, 13th September - Cheer Point
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
We need volunteers that can spare a few hours – so if you have friends and family running, or just want to soak up the amazing atmosphere, why not come and join us on the day?
The cheering point is a team effort, so as a volunteer, you would also help with setting up the cheer point, welcoming runners cheer crews, handing out cheering materials, making sure the area is kept tidy and helping with packing down.
WHAT’S REQUIRED FROM YOU?
Available on the day of the event from 10am to 4pm. Set times will be confirmed closer to the event date.
Be enthusiastic, friendly, flexible, fun and willing to get stuck in!
Cheering, clapping, whooping or even singing, you will make a huge difference to how our runners feel and help them to complete the challenge of a lifetime.
Use the name on their running vest to shout encouragement, and generally give a loud and motivational cheer as they run past!
You'll be outdoors for the duration of your volunteering so please remember to wear comfortable and weather appropriate clothing. Feel free to bring your own travel chair if you require one.
Together the team will be motivating our runners, spurring them on their way round the course.
WHY GET INVOLVED?
A chance to gain volunteering/events experience, do something new and boost your CV
The opportunity to meet new people in your community in a sociable setting
Clear advanced briefing and on-the-day training relevant to your role
Travel expenses up to £10 will be reimbursed after the event (receipts required)
