We would like to congratulate David Armour on winning the Gastrointestinal/IBD Nurse of the Year at the British Journal of Nursing Awards last week.
BJN Award winner announced
These awards recognise and celebrate the nurses who go above and beyond, who puts patient care at the heart of their role, inspires others and drives the profession forward. All of who deserve to be celebrated.
I am absolutely honoured and delighted to have been nominated for this award. What we do is very much a team effort. This highlights the excellent IBD team that we have here in NHS Highland, and that the work we all do is both appreciated and recognised by our patients.
Gastrointestinal and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) specialists are providing vital care to thousands of people every day and deserve recognition, as they can often be the difference between patients having a good or a poor quality of life, something that Crohn's & Colitis UK has been emphasising through our 'More IBD Nurses – Better Care' campaign.
Specialist nurses and teams are a lifeline, providing vital information and support in the most appropriate way for each patient. The care they deliver is invaluable and they help hundreds of thousands of people cope with these extremely challenging diseases. We hear all the time how these specialists have gone above and beyond to provide the care and support the patient needs. That is why it is so important that we recognise these care professionals and celebrate their hard work as they make such a difference.
