From lotteries to virtual events, and from corporate giving to fundraising in the community, 2021 was a record-breaking year for us. Thanks to our teams working against the odds and our wonderful supporters who were with us every step of the way, we were able to raise an incredible £7.2 million. Thank you to everyone who made it happen. Read on to find out about where the money came from and what we can achieve with it.

Community

In 2021 our community fundraisers raised in incredible £823,659! We saw an array of inspiring fundraising from our devoted community, from head shaving, to climbing mountains and everything in between. We want to express our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to fundraise for us, it means the world. Events

My WALK IT was a huge success in 2021. With another uncertain year whether physical events would be possible, we made the decision to remain with the virtual concept and launch My WALK IT once again. With a brand-new microsite and eye-catching artwork, we surpassed all expectations and event targets. Overall, nearly 2,000 people registered for the event raising an outstanding £392,404. This year we will be hosting our My WALK IT challenge once again, while also bringing back the award winning 5k/10k WALK IT in London. Corporate partners

In 2021 our corporate partners helped us raise vital awareness and funds. A huge thanks to all our partners who supported us in a variety of ways including one off donations, fundraising as part of their Charity of the Year scheme, collaborating with us on bespoke products and taking part in events for us. Thank you! We can’t wait to work with our amazing corporate partners again this year, and we’re always keen to hear from other companies who would like to get involved in our work. Membership

Thanks to your support in 2020 we revamped our Connect magazine and were able to bring back the physical version for Spring and Autumn 2021. We also saw a large increase in members across the year going from just over 44,000 members at the end of 2019 to over 47,000 members at the end of 2021! As part of our community our members receive a Can’t Wait Card and a RADAR key to unlock over 9,000 accessible toilets. They also receive regular communications from us about our work, innovations in Crohn’s and Colitis research and updates from experts in the field thanks to our Connect Now emails and Connect magazine. If you would like to become a member you can do so from as little as £1.25 a month. Find out more on our membership page.

Trusts

We are so grateful to the charitable trusts and foundations and statutory funders that supported our work this year, helping us to deliver even better support for people living with Crohn’s and Colitis. This included our new partnerships with the Helmsley Charitable Trust in the USA, the Health and Social Care Alliance in Scotland, and the Health Foundation. Thank you so much for valuing the work we do and helping us to make life better for thousands of people living with these debilitating conditions.

Raffles and lotteries

This year, we ran a Spring and Autumn raffle, generating a combined income of £161,000. Our weekly lottery gives people the chance to win a £25,000 jackpot, as well as supporting our work through every £1 entry. In 2021, the lottery raised £137,000. It is wonderful to be able to share this amazing news with everyone. To raise over £7 million, the highest amount in any year in the charity’s history is a fantastic achievement. We are so grateful to all our supporters, donors and fundraisers for helping us to hit this incredible milestone. The funds raised will go towards our vital work supporting the 500,000 people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis in the UK and to fund research which aims to discover better ways of managing the diseases and, one day, find a cure.

All of this allows us to continue improving lives for every affected by Crohn's and Colitis. You can find out more about how we will continue to do this in our latest strategy.
